NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Four Wildcats were mentioned as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced its 2024 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams on Wednesday, with three First Teamers and one Second Team honoree highlighting the Wilmington University women's soccer team.
All four selections are repeat selections for the Wildcats, led by Alyssa Ruggeri (Wilmington, Del.) being named a First Team All-CACC forward for the fourth year in a row. Jordan Siok (Haddonfield, N.J.) was a three-time All-Landmark selection at Catholic University before becoming a First Team All-CACC selection this season. Brian Wons (Cherry Hill, N.J.) repeats as a First Team All-CACC defender this season while Evelyn Payne (Wilmington, Del.) repeats as a Second Team All-CACC performer.
Alyssa Ruggeri didn't close out her storied career the way she wanted, getting injured down the stretch her senior year, but she was again named First Team All-CACC. She was the 2021 CACC Rookie of the Year and 2022 CACC Player of the Year and First Team All-CACC all four years. She scored seven goals and added four assists for 18 points in 14 games this year. She scored game-winning goals against #4 Adelphi and at Chestnut Hill.
Jordan Siok was a First Team All-Landmark selection last year at Catholic and a two-time Second Team selection in 2021 and 2022. She led the Wildcats with nine goals, five assists, and 23 points this year to earn First Team All-CACC honors. She is tied for fourth in the CACC with her nine goals and tied for second in game-winning goals with five. Her 23 points this year are fifth most in the CACC.
Brianna Wons again anchored the defense for the Wildcats this fall, repeating as a First Team All-CACC selection. The centerback helped lead the team to only allowing 18 goals in 18 games, securing five shutouts along the way. She also tied the program's single-game record with four goals in a game, tying the mark at Lincoln (Pa.) on October 29. She finished fourth on the team with six goals and an assist for 13 points this season. She's had two game-winning goals, first at Lincoln and against Goldey-Beacom in the regular season finale.
Evelyn Payne set the tempo for the Wildcats on the outside once again this year, leading to another Second Team All-CACC performance. She scored six goals to go with one assist for 13 points, tying for third most on the team. She scored two goals at Holy Family and at Bridgeport this year, adding a goal and an assist against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Caldwell's Taina Gervais was named the CACC Player of the Year while Georgian Court's Chelsea Lavezzo was named the CACC Rookie of the Year. Jefferson's Carly Yeager repeats as the CACC Defensive Player of the Year while teammate Liv Riddel repeats as the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year by virtue of being the First Team All-CACC selection. Their coach, Kyle Schumann was voted the CACC Coach of the year as well. Lincoln (Pa.) rounds out the Major Award by earning the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
