Wildcats Lead CACC With 10 Honorees on 2021 CACC Volleyball All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Fifty-three (53) honorees on Friday were named to the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The total number of honorees represent all 13 schools that compete in the sport in the CACC.

To be eligible for the CACC All-Academic Team, each student-athlete must mee the following criteria:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants)
  • Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution
  • Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution
  • Student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility. 

The Wildcats led the CACC with 10 honorees, captained by four-time honoree Mandy Behiels. The Wildcats also had a three-time honoree in Angel Oliver, and four second-time honorees in Elly Collins, Dorie Moore, Grace Morton, and Riane Nickerson. New to the team for the Wildcats this year are J'ernai Argilagos, Sydney Barrett, Katie Bushong, and Jessica Connelly.

The University of the Sciences was next with eight student-athletes making the list. Thomas Jefferson University, which won the 2021 CACC Championship, had six players make the squad.

Four student-athletes who made the team posted perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages including Samantha Ashton (Caldwell University); Bailey Medeiros (Nyack College); Rachel Chan (USciences); and Jessica Connolly (WilmU).

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Seventeen (17) of the honorees earned GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Twenty-one (21) were named to the team for the second time in their career.
  • Nine were honored for the third time.
  • Four made it for the fourth time.
