Volleyball Drops Final Nonconference Matches to Bentley and Southern New Hampshire

WALTHAM, Mass. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team closed its 2024 nonconference schedule with losses to Bentley and Southern New Hampshire on Saturday inside the Charles A. Dana Center on the campus of Bentley University.

Set scores for the match against Bentley were 25-19, 25-15, and 25-16.

Set scores for the Wildcats in the match against Southern New Hampshire were 14-25, 17-25, 25-17, and 19-25.

Match vs. Bentley:
In the match against the host Falcons (16-4), the Wildcats (11-14) only put down 24 kills while committing 19 errors, hitting 0.053 for the match. Bentley collected 44 digs in the match while adding eight total blocks, keeping the Wildcats off the scoreboard.

Alex Serna led the attack with seven kills form the middle position, hitting .278 for the match on 18 swings. Karalyn Osborne, Brady Hrivnak, and Eliza Schneider added five kills each, but only hit 0.016 combined. Cam Justus dished out 11 assists while adding six digs. Morgan Daniels had nine digs while Karla Nunez-Rivera led with three block assists.

Match vs. Southern New Hampshire:

The defense was more active in the second match of the day, collecting 49 digs (with SNHU only collecting 46), while adding six total blocks as well. The Wildcats put down 37 kills with a .149 attack percentage, hitting .375 in the third set victory over the Penmen.

The Penmen (7-13) finished with 12 aces in the match while the offense put down 56 kills with a .250 attack percentage.

Eliza Schneider led the Wildcats with 15 kills while only committing two errors and hitting .464 for the match. She also got her hands on three blocks, including the lone solo block for the Wildcats. Karla Nunez-Rivera added nine kills and two blocks while Karalyn Osborne dished out 13 assists to go with eight digs, three kills, and two blocks. Claudia Melendez passed out 12 helpers to go with eight digs, and two aces as well.

The Wildcats return to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play for the rest of the season, starting with three straight home games. They host Jefferson on Wednesday night with a first set for 7:00 p.m. inside the WU Athletics Complex.
