
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - - The 50th running of the annual Paul Short Run took place on Saturday morning from Lehigh's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The Wilmington University women's cross country team competed in the Green 6K race while the men competed in the Brown 8K race in what is one of the biggest cross country meets in the nation.
In the women's green 6K race, the Wildcats finished 21st out of 32 team, earning 548 points. On the men's side, the Wildcats finishing 29th out of 38 teams in the Brown 8K race, earning 779 points.
The women were led by Tiffany Banning, running to a 31st place finish out of 245 runners in the Green race. She finished in 23:57.8 while twin sister Sammy Banning crossed the line in 25:47.2 and in 114th place. Amy Chomo placed 125th overall in a time of 26:03.9 followed by Maddie Minnick in 162nd place with a time of 26:56.0. Abby Chomo closed the Wildcat scoring with a 176th place finish, running in 27:27.2.
Kendall Cramer was the sixth finisher for the Wildcats in 189th place, running in 27:52.2. Angie Chomo finished 204th overall with a time of 28:57.4 while Claudia Rodriguez closed out the Wildcats on the course with a time of 29:08 in 208th place.
Sonoma State won the Green Race with 64 points while Brockport State finished second with 116 points.
Trent Taylor paced the men in the Brown 8K race, finishing in 88th overall out of 313 runners, crossing the line in 26:15.5. Dan Wyshinski was second for the Wildcats in 125th overall, finishing in 26:36.5. Carter Sparwasser placed 147th overall with a time of 26:52.9 followed by Chris Nelson in 233rd overall with a time of 28:10.5. Joe Volk was the fifth scorer for the Wildcats in 256th place, running in 28:47.6.
Braeden Peterson placed 283rd overall with a time of 29:33.7 while Hayward Boutte placed 295th overall in a time of 30:25.1. Zach Souders finished 306th overall with a time of 31:29.1 followed by Niko Licup in 308th place with a time of 33:11.4. Terence Lucas wrapped up the Wildcats on the course in 311th place, crossing the line in 36:13.2.
Davis & Elkins won the Brown 8K race with 79 points while Catawba placed second in 128 points. CACC foe Caldwell finished ahead of the Wildcat sin 26th place with 739 points.
