MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - - Barry's constant pressure was too much to handle as the Wilmington University baseball team fell to the Buccaneers, 9-1, on Wednesday night at Feinbloom Field.

The Buccaneers (9-11) only went down in order in two innings, having the Wildcats' (4-4) pitchers pitch from the stretch for the majority of the game.

The scoring started in the bottom of the first inning as a triple down the right field line scored a lead off single for Barry. The Wildcats answered with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning from Regan Hidalgo to tie the game at 1-1. Kendall Small started the inning with a one out single followed by a hot shot to short by Nick Macey to put runners on first and third.

From there it was all Barry, as they scored four runs in the bottom of the third before adding insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings. A two-out two-run double in the bottom of the seventh made the score 9-1 in favor of the Buccaneers.

Small led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a run scored while Macey went 2-for-4, accounting for five of the team's six hits. Dan Hyatt went 1-for-3 to round out the Wildcats offensively.

Brad Scull fell to 0-2 on the season in tossing the first 4.2 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits. Zach Frederick pitched the next 1.1 innings before Tyler Newton pitched the seventh inning. Noah Latshaw struck out a pair in a scoreless eighth inning.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday when they travel back to Miami to take on NAIA foe St. Thomas. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on the campus of St. Thomas.
