MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - - The Molloy pitching combination stifled the Wilmington University bats on Saturday, as the Lions took a 6-0 victory from the Wildcats at the Ripken Experience on Ebbets Field.

The Wildcats (2-1) only mustered three hits while the combination of Brian Morrisey and Rachard Gennaro shutout the Wildcats with nine strikeouts.

Rich Albrecht was up to the task on the hill for the Wildcats, pitching well in his five innings stint. He struck out seven Lions (6-0) while only allowing one run on two hits in the tough luck loss.

The Lions scored in the bottom of the third, the only run off Albrecht. A leadoff double was standing on third after a wild pitch. A single back up the middle plated the game's first run before Albrecht pitched out of the frame. The Lions put runners on second and third with one out in the second inning, but Albrecht struck out the next two batters to escape the inning. He also left a runner on third in the fifth, getting a comebacker to keep it a 1-0 lead as he exited.

The Wildcats didn't get their first hit until the top of the fifth inning, as JJ Killen nearly exited the yard for the second day in a row. But his hit went off the fence and he had to settle for a double.

Nick Nocella hit a one-out single in the seventh, but Morrisey ended his seven-inning outing with a double play. The Lions then added a single run in the seventh and then scored four more in the bottom of the eighth to distance themselves from the Wildcats.

Adrian Jimenez started the top of the ninth with a single back up the middle, but the game ended with the Wildcats' third double play, going around the horn to finish the shutout.

The Wildcats finish their trip to Myrtle Beach on Sunday with another tough contest, facing yet another Regionally Ranked opponent in Franklin Pierce. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. at Crosley Field.
