NEWARK, Del. - - Two Wilmington University men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Men's Soccer Teams, which was released on Tuesday.
Junior goalkeeper Vinny Tasca (Audubon, Pa.) and sophomore forward Lorne Bickley (St. Helier, Jersey) were both named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team. It is the first All-Region selection in Tasca's career while Bickley was named All-Region in both the D2CCA and the former NSCAA as a freshman last year.
Tasca and Bickley helped lead the Wildcats to a 10-6-3 overall record, including a 9-3 stance in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. They finished third in the CACC Standings before falling in the CACC Tournament quarterfinals.
Tasca led the CACC with 15 goals against, and a goals against average of 0.84. He was also second in the CACC in save percentage at .815. He recorded a season high 10 saves in a 1-1 tie against Millersville, two of those saves were point blank saves in the second overtime. This season, he was selected to All-CACC Second Team and was also the CACC Goalkeeper of the week (10/29).
Bickley finished tied for the team lead in goals with 10, which also ranked fourth in the CACC. He also finished the season ranked fifth in the CACC in shots with 54 total, adding two assists for 22 points. Bickley had a season high four goals, which also set a new single game program record, and eight points in a 10-1 win over Felician.
