Five Men’s Soccer Standouts Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2024 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team and five Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Representing the Wilmington University men's soccer team on the CSC Academic All-District Team were graduate student Lenny Greifenberg, senior Diego Ramirez, junior Tsubasa Abe, and sophomores Patrick Keys, and Charlie Phillips. The five Wildcats represent the second most among Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference programs and are among 21 total CACC student-athletes.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District nomination, the student-athlete must excel in both the field of play and the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, AND compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the games, along with several other criteria.

Lenny Greifenberg (Sulingen, Germany) was named a 2024 Team Captain and earned a spot on the 2024 All-CACC Second Team as a midfielder. He started all 20 games for the Wildcats, scoring once and tying for the team lead with six assists for a total of eight points. He scored in the season opener against Adelphi and had a season's high two assists against Dominican. He is carrying a 4.00 in graduate school while pursuing a MS Professional Studies degree.

Diego Ramirez (Olney, Md.) played in 19 games while making 13 starts for the Wildcats, scoring two goals while adding four assists for eight points in the midfield. He scord in back-to-back games against Bridgeport and Goldey-Beacom, adding an assist against the Lightning for a season-high three points. He is carrying a 3.63 grade point average while studying for his Business degree.

Tsubasa Abe (Kawagoe, Japan) appeared in 19 games for the Wildcats, making 17 starts after settling into an outside back position. He scored twice while adding five assists for nine points, ranking fifth on the team. He scored goals against West Chester and at Bloomfield this season. He is carrying a 3.51 grade point average while studying for his Applied Business degree.

Patrick Keys (Nelson, New Zealand) started all 20 games at centerback for the Wildcats, anchoring the defense. He contributed two assists on the year, the first coming in the comeback victory at Holy Family and at Bridgeport. He is carrying a 3.91 grade point average while studying for his Business Analytics degree.

Charlie Phillips (Norwich, England) started in goal in all 20 games for the Wildcats, finishing the year with a 2.52 goals against average and a .583 save percentage. He secured back-to-back shutouts against No. 6 Southern New Hampshire and Dominican and added a third against Caldwell in the CACC Tournament. He is carrying a perfect 4.00 grade point average while studying for his Applied Business degree.

The CSC Academic All-America Teams were also announced on December 10.
