
CHESTER, Pa. - - The Wilmington University track and field teams set three new school records, including Donte Dockery hitting an NCAA Division II qualifying mark at the Danny Curran Invitational this past weekend hosted by Widener University.
Donte Dockery set a WilmU outdoor record with a leap of 15.37 meters in the triple jump, surpassing the NCAA Division II Qualifying mark while winning the event at the Danny Curran. His effort is now the 8th best mark in all of NCAA Division II after this weekend's action.
Tiffany Banning set a new school record in the 10,000-meter event on Friday night, finishing sixth overall with a time of 38:52.95. She broke the mark set by Alexa Crowell in 2023. She has the fastest 10,000-meter time in the East Region this outdoor season, ahead of Felician's Cynthia Delapaz by nearly two minutes.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Tyler Levons, Donte Dockery, Bostwick Patten, and TJ Taiwo set a new school record after finishing third in the event on Saturday with a time of 3:18.30. Only Cortland State and St. Joseph's finished ahead of the Wildcats on Saturday. They now hold the fastest 4x400-meter relay time in the East Region this year as well, nearly four seconds faster than Holy Family's best time.
Other top performances from this weekend were Dan Wyshinski in the 5,000-meter and Trent Taylor and Carter Sparwasser in the 10,000-meter event. Wyshinski finished 31st in the 5,000-meter, but now ranks second in the East Region after running a 15:23.22. Taylor finished 28th overall in the 10,000-meter race but is now second in the East Region after a 32:58.60. Carter Sparwasser is right behind him in third place in the East with a time of 33:08.86 on Friday night.
TJ Taiwo placed ninth overall in the 110m hurdles on Saturday, running it in 15.11 and is now ranked second overall in the East Region as well. His time of 57.94 in the 400-meter hurdles is sixth best in the East Region so far this season as well. Bradley Spencer finished 11th on Saturday in 110-meter hurdles with the fifth best time in the Region so far, crossing in 15.30 seconds.
Christian Dollard set a new personal record in the discus event and is not ninth in the East Region after a toss of 42.50 meters. He finished 14th overall on Saturday in the event.
On the women's side, Deja Curry set a new personal record in the 200-meter event, finishing 25th overall with a time of 26.70 seconds. She is now 14th in the East Region this season.
Sammy Banning finished 26th in the 10,000-meter event on Friday night, but is now 6th overall in the East Region with a time of 42:00.35.
The relay team of Deja Curry, Eliza Hildreth, Cadance Bell, and Temi Mustapha finished seventh overall in the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday and are now ranked 6th overall in the East Region with a time of 4:14.94.
Sytieia Brown set a new personal mark in the hammer throw, finishing 13th overall with a distance of 41.59 meters. She is now 6th in the East Region in the hammer and Top 6 in the region in all three throws.
The track and field teams will be back in action next Saturday as they make the short trip to the Delaware Invitational on the campus of the University of Delaware.
