Bowling Concludes 7th Annual Wildcat DII/DIII Invite in 10th Place

NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team placed 10th overall while hosting its 7th Annual Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational this past weekend, competing at Bowlerama in New Castle.

Seeded ninth heading into Sunday's bracket play, the Wildcats lost its opening match to D'Youville, 4-0, before bouncing back with a 4-2 victory over Adelphi. But Molloy was able to win the final two games to defeat the Wildcats, 4-2, in the 9th place match, moving the Wildcats into a 10th place final position.

In the opener against D'Youville, the Saints came out and took the first two games, 189-160 and 190-174, before really putting the pedal to the metal with a 256-176 win in game three. They finished off the 4-0 sweep with a 200-187 win in game four.

The Wildcats moved on to play Adelphi, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. They won the first game, 163-135 before taking a 2-0 lead with a 145-136 victory in game two. The Panther struck back with wins in games three and four to tie the match, 2-2, but then the Wildcats had their two best games of the match, winning game five, 164-111, and game six, 188-170, to close out the match, 4-2.

In the 9th place match, Molloy jumped out and took the first game, 208-177, but then the Wildcats bounced right back and won game two, 171-155. The Wildcats lost game three by one pin, 157-156, but again tied the match, 2-2, with a win in game four, 187-179. Molloy took the match by winning the final two games though, winning 139-128 and 197-184, to knock the Wildcats down to 10th place overall.

Saint Vincent College defeated Newman University to win the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational, going the distance in the final match, 4-3. Saint Vincent won game seven, 224-152, to claim the championship. Felician finished third overall, defeating Emmanuel, 4-2.

The Wildcats have two regular season tournaments left to prepare for the CACC Championship in late March. They first square off against conference opponents in the CACC Meet #2 starting on Friday, February 28, at the Lodi Lanes in Lodi, New Jersey.
