
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of Wildcats picked up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors after each opening their 2025 seasons last week, with Ella Royer earning Player of the Week and Haley Grygo earning Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The women's lacrosse and softball programs started its 2025 seasons last week, with Ella Royer (Sherwood Park, Alberta) picking up where she left off in 2024 and Haley Grygo (Middletown, Del.) getting off to a hot start in the collegiate debut.
Ella Royer scored 10 goals and added two assists for 12 points in two games to lead the Wildcats. She also added nine draws, five ground balls, and a caused turnover last week. Her junior season started with seven goals and assist for eight points at Millersville, adding six draws, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. She went on to scored three goals with an assist at Shippensburg, adding three draws and three ground balls.
Haley Grygo helped the 4th ranked softball team to a season opening split against West Chester on Sunday, going 3-for-6 with a double and a run scored in the doubleheader. In her first two collegiate at bats, she went for a double and a single, going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the opener. She then went 1-for-3 with a walk in the nightcap.
Freshman defender Kyla Stasium was named to the Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll while softball's Delani Sheehan and Cassidy Zelano were named to their sports' Honor Roll as well. Baseball's Xavier Cortez and Brandon Grygo earned spots on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll as well after opening their season in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this weekend as well.
