Theo Faillon Named CACC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Theo Faillon helped lead the Wilmington University men's soccer team to a 2-0 week, being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office.

The graduate student transfer contributed on four of the six goals from last week, scoring three goals while adding an assist. The Wildcats defeated Jefferson, 3-2, and Bloomfield, 3-2, to improve to 4-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in CACC play.

Theo Faillon (Allinges, France) put the Wildcats ahead, 2-1, against Jefferson, scoring his 11th goal of the year after following his own rebound after a saved penalty kick in the 56th minute. Jefferson came back to tie it in the 62nd minute before the Wildcats won it with a goal in the 87th minute.

The Wildcats fell behind early again on Saturday at Bloomfield, but then Theo Faillon led a comeback with two goals and an assist. He assisted on the tying goal by Tsubasa Abe in the 18th minute, scored the go-ahead goal in the 31st minute, and then added the game-winner in the 41st minute for his CACC leading 13th goal of the year.

Theo Faillon now has 13 goals and three assists for a CACC leading 29 points on the season. His 13 goals rank fourth in all of NCAA Division II while his 29 points are sixth in the country.

The Wildcats head to Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday before returning home to play Dominican on Saturday.
