
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the third time this season, Wilmington University men's soccer forward Theo Faillon has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Theo Faillon (Allinges, France) was also named the CACC Player of the Week on October 7 and October 21. He helped lead the Wildcats to a CACC Tournament berth last week, going 1-1, but 1-0 in CACC play with a 6-1 win at Bridgeport on Saturday.
The Wildcats started with a midweek game against No. 23 Mercy, falling 4-2. Faillon scored the Wildcats' second goal of the game to bring the Wildcats to within 3-2 in the 64th minute.
On Saturday, Faillon scored a second half hat trick at Bridgeport, leading the Wildcats to scoring five goals in the second half to win, 6-1. With the Wildcats leading 1-0 at the halftime break, Faillon came out and scored in the 57th minute on a penalty kick to make it 2-0. He then scored from in close off a pass from Lenny Greifenberg to make it 3-1 in the 74th minute and again with a header in the 78th minute from Mylan Le Baut in the 78th minute.
The four goals last week give Faillon 20 on the season, ranking tied for third in all of NCAA Division II. His 43 points rank fourth in the country as well.
On the women's side, Brianna Wons was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after scoring four goals at Lincoln (Pa.) last week.
The Wildcats wrap up the regular season this week with games against Goldey-Beacom. The men play Thursday at 3:00 PM while the women play on Friday at 3:00 PM.
