
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. - - The Wilmington University bowling team won the final two games of the best-of-seven Baker series to defeat Felician, 4-2, and win the match, 2-1, in the First Round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships at Pike Lanes.
In the Mega Match format, the No. 2 seed Wildcats needed to win two of the three contests: team scoring, Baker, and, if necessary, best-of-seven Baker series.
The Wildcats came out took care of business in the Team Scoring (Traditional) round, defeating No. 3 Felician, 961-831, to take a 1-0 lead. Eleni Feggulis led the Wildcats with a 223 match while Sydney Jones and Logan Brown added a pair of 192 games as well. KC Miller chipped in with a game of 185 while Miranda Dudas rounded out the scoring with a 169.
The match moved on to a Baker total pinfall match, but the Golden Falcons were able to even the series with a 987-875 victory.
Felician carried the momentum into best-of-seven series with a 257-155 win in the opener, but then the Wildcats won game two, 185-159, and game three, 222-157, to take a 2-1 lead. Felician had their best game of the match in game four, 265-157, to tie the game, 2-2, but then the Wildcats were able to win the final two games. They won a high scoring affair, 222-214, in game five and then closed out the victory with a 217-166 win in game six, 4-2.
The top seeded Caldwell Cougars defeated Chestnut Hill, 2-0, on Friday, to set up a matchup between the top two seeds in the winner's bracket semifinals on Saturday. The match begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Pike Lanes.
