Tiffany Banning and Siana MacDonald Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Continuing to perform well down the stretch, Tiffany Banning and Siana MacDonald have been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Cross Country's Tiffany Banning (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) again led the Wildcats as the top finisher at the NJIT Highlander Invite, being named the CACC Women's Runner of the Week. Freshman Siana MacDonald (Novina, Singapore) helped lead the women's tennis team to a 3-0 record last week, being named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

For the second time this season, Tiffany Banning set a new personal record, finishing in 17th overall at the NJIT Highlander Invite out of 219 runners with a time of 19:31.88. It is the second time this season that Banning has finished a 5K under 20:00 minutes.

For the first time in her career, Siana MacDonald has been named the CACC Rookie of the Week, going 3-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play last week. In a 7-0 team victory over Post, MacDonald won at No. 2 singles, 6-2 and 6-1. She moved up to No. 1 singles against Dominican and won, 6-1 and 6-1, and then again at No. 1 against Jefferson, winning 6-4 and 6-0 in the team's 4-3 win. She partnered with Kushi Khandoji to win at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, against Dominican and No. 3 doubles, 6-3, against Jefferson.

Cross country's Trent Taylor and Sammy banning were named the to the Weekly Honor Roll, as was women's tennis' Kushi Khandoji.

The cross country team is off until the CACC Championship on Sunday, October 27, while the women's tennis team wraps up the regular season on Tuesday at Chestnut Hill before hosting the CACC Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
