Yailynn Ramirez’s 13th Place Finish Leads Wilmington Cross Country Teams at Dutchmen Invite

LEBANON, Pa. - - The Wilmington University cross country team ran in a packed field at the Dutchmen Invite on Saturday, as the men finished seventh out of 17 teams and Yailynn Ramirez finished 13th overall on the Union Tunnel Park course, hosted by Lebanon Valley College.

The men finished with 164 points, with their top three runners finishing inside the Top 25 in a field of 211 runners. Messiah won the event with a team score of 49, followed by Ursinus with 74 and Lebanon Valley with 85.

Daniel Wyshinski paced the men with a 14th place finish, running the 8K course in 27:32.50. Matt Gonzalez followed shortly after in 21st place with a time of 27:41.30 while Logan Strouse placed 24th overall with a time of 27:48.00.

Michael Dowd was the next Wildcat to finish, crossing in 50th place with a time of 29:15.20 before Jared Cushlanis rounded out the Wildcat scoring with a 55th place finish, running the 8K in 29:22.50.

Darnell McLean placed 80th overall with a time of 32:35.40 while Hayward Boutte closed out the Wildcats on the course with a time of 33:41.00.

Yailynn Ramirez again ran well in the 5K event, finishing 13th overall out of 161 runners in the women's field. She finished the course in 20:04.80.

Lebanon Valley's Lauren Wick won the women's side with a time of 18:42.50 while Ursinus' Giles Daly won the college 8K with a time of 26:12.20.

The Wildcats are off next week but return to action on Saturday, September 25 with the Harry Anderson Invite hosted by Roberts Wesleyan. It is on the Matt St. James Trails, the host of the 2021 NCAA East Regional Championships.
