FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - - Another late game collapse ruined a double digit run output from the offense, as Nova Southeastern came back to stun the Wilmington University baseball team, 14-13, on Tuesday night at the NSU Baseball Complex.

Leading 13-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats (3-4) squandered five runs in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth to fall victim to a walk-off for the second night in a row.

The Wildcats got off to a fast start on Tuesday night, scoring 12 of their 13 runs in the first four innings, including eight in the first two frames.

Kendall Small started the scoring with an RBI single to right center in the top of the first after the first two batters reached by Shark (8-6) errors. Max Carney hit a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead before Brooks Ryan singled through the left side and through the left fielder and all the way to the wall. Small and Nick Grant scored on the play to move ahead 4-0. Brett Nowell hit another sac fly to right to cap the scoring in the top of the first, 5-0.

Carney produced all three runs for the Wildcats in the top of the second inning, hitting a two-out, three-run bomb to right to put the Wildcats up, 8-1.

The Sharks answered with four runs in the bottom of the third without recording a base hit, using four walks, a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI ground out to cut the deficit in half, 8-5.

Wilmington was able to get all four runs back in the top of the fourth inning. Justin Mears, Dakota Graham, and Christian Adorno started the frame with back-to-back-back singles to load the bases. Small dribbled one up the first base line, hitting the bag to score a run and keep the bases loaded. Carney walked for his fourth RBI of the day and Grant followed with a two-run single through the left side to move ahead 11-5.

Christian Adorno hit a two-out single back up the middle in the top of the seventh inning, scoring Frank Nigro from second base to put the visitors up, 13-6, needing only nine outs for the win.

But the Sharks started to battle back in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on three hits, getting a big three-run homer to bring the home team to within 13-11. An RBI ground out in the eighth brought the Sharks to within a single run, 13-12, setting the stage for the walk-off in the ninth.

A one-out triple off the wall nearly tied the game, but an RBI single one batter later officially knotted the score at 13-13. With two outs and runners on second and third, Andrew Liberty laid down a bunt far enough away from Noah Latshaw towards the third base line for the walk-off squeeze bunt.

Adorno led the offense by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Small and Grant added two hits each. Carney led all players with five RBI on the night.
