NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Wilmington University baseball team took two from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division's Concordia on Saturday afternoon, 5-2 and 14-4, at Wilson Field.

With his solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning in game one, Kendall Small became the program's all time RBI leader with 144 RBI in his career.

Game One:

The Wildcats (24-15, 13-10 CACC) got on the board first as Julian Kurych hit a solo shot out to right field for the first run, before Kendall Small stole home to take a 2-0 lead after one full.

The Clippers earned one back in the top of the fourth inning to make it a one-run game, before tying it up at 2-2 in the sixth with a two-out single to right center.

Wilmington would only have two base runners until the bottom of the seventh, when Max Carney led the inning off with a single through the right side. Now with two outs and Carney on second, Joey Cautillo knocked a dribbler to the second baseman and beat it out. Carney didn't stop when going around third, and came home as the throw to the plate was offline, which gave the Wildcats the lead back.

In the next inning, Kendall Small made history with his solo homerun out to center field to break the RBI record in a career with 144. The next two batters would reach safely, before bringing up Carney, who grounded out to the third baseman, but would bring a run home to give the Wildcats a 5-2 lead heading into the Clippers' final at bats.

Dan Hyatt held the Clippers without a hit until the fourth inning, and retired the side throughout the first three. He would go 7.0 IP, allowing five hits, and one walk, while striking out seven to improve to 7-1 on the season. Zach Frederick would get the save for WilmU going the final 2.0 IP for his second save of the season.

Kendall Small went 3-for-4 with one RBI, as Joey Cautillo went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Julian Kurych went 1-for-4 with his solo homerun, while Max Carney had one RBI.

Game Two:

Nine runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning would give the Wildcats a 10-run lead over Concordia, finishing out the game, 14-4.

Concordia would be the first to score in game two, as they hit back-to-back singles, before a double would score both runners to take a 2-0 lead heading into the Wildcats' first at bats.

Dakota Graham would start the inning off with a walk, before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Quintin Ivy would be in the two-hole for the Wildcats, as he was able to single through the left side to score Graham and contain the lead to one.

Concordia would score two more in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 4-1 ballgame, but it did not matter. Wilmington would load the bases in the bottom half of the inning, before Graham forced in a run with his second walk of the game, making it 4-2. Ivy would be next, as he reached on a fielding error by the shortstop, which would score another run for the Wildcats and keep the bases loaded. Small would then single to left field, scoring two more to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game, 5-4.

The big inning came in the bottom of the fifth, when Brett Nowell started it with a two-run single up the middle. WilmU would go through the lineup to bring up Nowell again, who knocked in his third RBI of the inning with a single to the shortstop. Derek Donastorg would also hit two singles in the inning to bring in three RBI and give Wilmington the 10-run lead.

Tyler Campbell would start and go 3.1 IP, before coming out with an injury to bring in Ryan Bradigan. Bradigan would get the win, going 2.2 IP, allowing two hits, and one earned run to improve to 1-0 on the year. Justin Mears would get one strikeout, pitching in the final inning.

Max Carney and Brett Nowell both went 2-for-3, as Nowell had three RBI and Carney had two. Derek Donastorg went 2-for-2 with three RBI, as Quintin Ivy went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kendall Small had one hit and three RBI, while Dakota Graham had one hit and one RBI.

Wilmington is back home Wednesday for a doubleheader with another CACC North Division foe in Nyack. Game one is slated for 12:00 p.m. at Wilson Field.
