
NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's lacrosse set a new single-game program record with 31 goals in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference season opener on Saturday, defeating Dominican, 31-2, at the WU Athletics Complex.
The Wildcats (2-3, 1-0 CACC) used 18 different goal scorers to score their 31 goals, including 10 different goal scorers in the second quarter alone, scoring 13 goals. The Wildcats led 7-1 after the first quarter, 20-1, at halftime, and 26-1, after the third quarter. The previous record was 29 goals scored, occurring twice during the 2024 season.
Andrew Dzubak was the only Wildcat to score multiple goals in the first quarter. His first gave the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. The Chargers (2-5, 0-1 CACC) scored to make it 3-1 with 11:00 minutes to play in the quarter, but then the Wildcats went on to score the final four goals of the frame. Andrew Dzubak ended with two goals and two assists in the frame.
Josh Lovely, Gavin Paraschak, and Toby Templeton all scored twice in the second quarter while the other seven goals were scored by different Wildcats. Santiago Figueroa, Tyler Quinn, and Aidan Vicidomini each scored their first goals of the season in the second. The Wildcats led 20-1 at the halftime break.
Nathan Liederman scored his first goal of the season in the third quarter and then Patrick Craig, Brady Frys, Brendan Macdonell, and Michael Roscetti all scored their first goals of the season in the fourth quarter.
Josh Lovely led the team with four goals in the game while Gavin Paraschak and Andrew Dzubak finished with three goals and three assists each. Domanik West and Toby Templeton added hat tricks as well for the Wildcats while Nathan Liederman finished with two goals and three assists. Santiago Figueroa scored two goals and two assists while Patrick Craig chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Connor Widmer went 13-for-16 at the face-off spot while Aidan Vicidomini went 16-for-19 and Brady Frys went 1-for-2, totaling a 30-for-37 day for the Wildcats. Daniel Flynn made six saves before Braeden Mitchell made eight stops, each allowing one goal in the contest.
The Wildcats remain in CACC play for another contest next weekend, taking to the road to play Bridgeport on Saturday. The opening face-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Connecticut.
