Men’s Soccer Ends in Draw for Third Straight Game, 1-1, at Caldwell

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Wilmington University men's soccer game ended in its third straight draw, as the Wildcats tied with Caldwell after two overtimes, 1-1, at Caldwell Field on Saturday in the team's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener.

It was a slow start for both teams, as the Wildcats had only two shots on goal in the first half to Caldwell's one. It was not until late into the second half that both teams scored. Caldwell's Erlend Aase scored the game's first goal in the 73rd minute, before Wilmington tied it up on a goal from Sam Jester on a cross pass from Fredrik Bentdal in the 85th minute. Caldwell had five corner kicks in double overtime, but the Wildcats were able to hold them off, ending the game in a draw.

WilmU's Fredrik Bentdal had two shots on goal for the Wildcats, while Callum McHale, Dimitrios Topouzlis, Daniel Loyo, and Davion Wedderburn all had one shot on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Vinny Tasca had three saves with four shots on goal for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats outshot the Cougars with seven shots on goal to Caldwell's four.

Next up, the Wildcats have their home-opener on Wednesday, September 12 against NYIT at the WU Athletic Complex. Opening whistle is set for 4 p.m.
