Bowlers Inch Closer to Lead with 5-0 Day at Hawk Flight Invite; KC Miller Atop the Leaderboard

HAMILTON, N.J. - - With a perfect 5-0 day, the Wilmington University women's bowling team climbed into second place at the Hawk Flight Invite on Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Lanes.

After the Wildcats went 4-1 in Baker matches on Friday, the Wildcats went 5-0 in traditional matches on Saturday with one more traditional match set to be played on Sunday morning.

On Friday, the Wildcats dropped their opening match, 944-942, to Molloy, but since then they haven't lost. They beat #23 Adelphi, Caldwell, St. Francis (Pa.), and #24 Monmouth in Baker matches Friday. They then came out and beat Felician, Bloomfield (1,041-943), #17 LIU, St. Francis (N.Y.), and Wagner (1,004-967) on Saturday in Traditional matches.

The Wildcats are now just 47 pins behind the leaders from LIU with the one Traditional match to play on Sunday before bracket play begins.

The Wildcats are also in the mix individually, as KC Miller took the lead after five traditional matches on Saturday. She set a new personal mark and recorded the second-best score in program history with a 287 against Bloomfield. It is the second week in a row the Wildcats have set the second best mark in program history, a Malia Stout did so last week with a 276. Miller also bowled games of 224, 221, and 210 on the day, adding up to a 1,096 and in first place at the moment.

Rachel Hirst is in sixth place with a five-match score of 977. She had a day's high 214 against Bloomfield while also bowling games of 195, 194, 191, and 183.

Malia Stout is 15th overall with a 946, bowling a day's best 214 against Felician. Desiree Dent bowling in four matches with a high of 213 against Caldwell while CC Riojas also bowled in four matches with a day's high 198 against Wagner. Sydney Jones posted a day's high of 193 against Bloomfield, bowling in two matches.
