Taylor Lambeth Surpasses 200-Career Points But Kutztown Defeats Women’s Lacrosse, 16-13

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - - Taylor Lambeth collected seven points on Wednesday, surpassing the 200-career point plateau but it wasn't enough as the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team fell on the road, 16-13, at Kutztown on Keystone Field.

Taylor Lambeth (Townsend, Del./Appoquinimink) became just the fourth Wildcat in program history to record 200-career points, standing at 205 and in third place all-time after Wednesday's contest. She trails only La'Dae Boykin's (2015-18) 257 career points and Danielle Niccoli's (2008-11) 232 career points. Liz Case (2010-13) recorded 201 career points to sit in fourth all-time.

On Wednesday, it was Kutztown (3-1) that jumped out to the early lead, scoring the first two goals of the game. Lambeth and Maddie Day answered with back-to-back goals just 18 seconds apart, but then the Bears scored the final three goals of the quarter to lead, 5-2, after the first 15 minutes.

Kutztown extended its lead to 7-2 with the first two goals of the second quarter, but then the Wildcats started their comeback. Lambeth sparked a 6-2 run with a goal with 11:33 to play. Campbell Heller got on the board with her first of the day just 21 seconds later. Kutztown scored back-to-back goals to lead 9-4, but then Campbell Heller scored back-to-back goals to spark a 4-0 run, as Maddie Day got the team to within 9-8 with 2:01 to play. The Bear scored the final goal of the half and headed into the break leading 10-8.

Ella Baynes scored back-to-back goals in the third to get the Wildcats to within 11-10, but the Wildcats could never get over the hump. Kutztown answered with back-to-back goals before Campbell Heller scored with 3:50 left in the quarter, bringing the Wildcats to within 13-11 going into the fourth.

Amelie Gamache brought the Wildcats to within 13-12 with 9:26 to play, but the Bears scored back-to-back goals once again to sustain a three-goal lead, 15-12. Campbell Heller scored her fifth goal of the day with 7:04 left in regulation, but that would be the last time the Wildcats found the back of the net.

Amelie Gamache won the ensuing draw but Campbell Heller's shot was saved by Fiona Henderson, and the Wildcats wouldn't get another shot off until under the one-minute mark.

Heller led the Wildcats with her five goals, adding six draw controls. Taylor Lambeth had three goals and four assists for her seven points while Ella Baynes and Maddie Day scored two goals and added an assist each. Amelie Gamache had a goal, an assist, and led the team with eight draws. Taylor Culver added six draws as well.

Wednesday was the final nonconference tune-up for the Wildcats, as they begin Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play next week. They head to Chestnut Hill next Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. game to begin their CACC slate.
