Sam Cain was named Head Coach of the Wilmington University women's soccer team in March 2025, and will begin his first season at the helm in fall 2025.
Sam Cain comes to Newark following a successful tenure at Iowa Lakes Community College in Spencer, Iowa. He helped lead the Lakers to a program record 14-7-1 last season, reaching as high as No. 8 nationally in the NJCAA. The team won the Region 11 Championship and advanced to the North Plains District Championship last season.
In addition to his three years as head coach at Iowa Lakes, Cain spent time with the Northwest Iowa Soccer Club, and the Greenwich Soccer Association and Roberts Sports Management team in Connecticut.
Cain is no stranger to the CACC, graduating from Post University in 2010 and helping the Eagles to the 2008 CACC Tournament Championship as a student-athlete. He was an all-state player during his time at Weston High School in Connecticut.
Sam Cain will arrive in Delaware and help guide the women’s soccer team through the rest of its non-championship spring season starting April 1.
