Keith Jones Named CACC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year for Eighth Time

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For a league record eighth time, Wilmington University cross country coach Keith Jones has been voted the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, as announced by the CACC Commissioner Dan Mara on Monday.

Jones earned the Coach of the Year nod by a vote of the conference's directors of athletics communications. He led this year's Wilmington team to the CACC championship, the program's second in a row and eighth all-time. The Wildcats placed four runners on the 2024 all-conference team.

Jones is the CACC Coach of the Year on the men's side for the second consecutive season. It is the eighth such award of his career – all since 2012 – extending his own conference record. He was also the league's Women's Cross-Country Coach of the Year in 2009. Wilmington will take part in the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship race on November 9 in Rochester, N.Y.

Also announced on Monday, the annual Rob Roman Memorial CACC Men's Cross Country Team Sportsmanship Award was won by Chestnut Hill. The annual Team Sportsmanship Award is selected by the league's head coaches. It is named for Roman, a former Post University men's cross-country standout who passed away suddenly and prematurely on October 5, 2012, to memorialize his courage, strength and sportsmanship.

The 2024 NCAA East Regional Championship is set for Saturday, November 9 at the Matt St. James XC Trails in Rochester, New York. The Wildcats competed on the course on September 28 at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
