November 01, 2022The 4th seeded Wilmington University men's soccer team defeated the 5th seeded Jefferson Rams to move on to the CACC Tournament Semifinals this weekend. Tajhay Williams started the scoring with a goal off a corner in the 6th minute of play, but the Rams tied the game before the half. The Wildcats came out with a mission in the second half and finally found the back of the net with 8 minutes remaining on a beautiful sliding goal by Pol Romero. Richard Thompson whipped in a cross from the right side for the assist. The Wildcats outshot the Rams, 25-7. Bas Markus made 2 saves. Papanicolas now has the most wins by a head coach in CACC history. Since taking over the program in 2004, Papanicolas has gone 202-110-35, for a winning percentage of .633 in more than 18 seasons.
